on self-interest vs. sacrifice
are we ever really acting for other people? like if i give something up for my family, it’s still because i wanted to do it. even soldiers — are they fighting selflessly, or because of money, responsibility, identity, whatever? at that point what even is sacrifice?

Software abstracts everything away which is great until it isn't. The closer I get to the metal, the more I feel like I can understand why.
